How The Ancestry Hunter works
The only thing that is certain about Family History is that no two Family Stories will be the same – some will be longer, some shorter; others may have ancestors travelling to all corners of the world whilst others again may have stayed in the same area for many years
How do begin to make sense of it?
At The Ancestry Hunter we break it down into segments.
The first question is how much of your family do you need the history of?
Here at The Ancestry Hunter we see Family Lines – as the diagram below shows – sort of like four slices of a cake.
So you choose how many slices you want information on.
One of my clients only needed her mother’s side of the family so she simply chose the Blue and Green lines and they were researched and written up for her.

It goes without saying that the only limit to how far back the research goes is when the records dry up and no more can be found – one client has his Maternal line back into the early 1600’s but his Paternal line dries up in the early 1800’s.
The second question is how much do you want to discover?
How thick do you want your cake slices?
An Introduction to your Family Story
If you opt for the Introduction Package you will get an overview of each of the Lines that you have asked The Ancestry Hunter to research.
This includes a Family Tree for each Line together with an Introduction to the roots of that Line; the Example shown is from my own family and all four Family Lines were included.
The Introductory Package costs just £25 per Family Line
So, if like my client mentioned earlier, you only wanted your mother’s side of the family researching you’d simply pay for two Lines – £50.
This is normally sent as an electronic PDF but can be printed and posted in a simple presentation folder for a small charge to cover costs or materials and postage.
Your Family Story
This is where the research goes far, far deeper.
As well as the “overview” of the Introductory Package this looks in detail at each generation and will fully document each of your direct ancestors.
If the example below was your family you’d get a detailed report on the life of George William Wilkinson including things like war records, census entries, marriages, jobs, where he lived, etc, etc – the Story of Your Ancestor’s History.
The generation after that would focus on George Robert Wilkinson and so on.
The Family Story Package costs just £100 per Family Line
Typically 15 to 20 pages
Your Complete Family Story
This tells you all there is to find about Your Family History.
As before you’d get a detailed report on the life of George William Wilkinson but now you would also get the same detail about each of the four siblings – this is typically where you find if you have long lost cousins because your great uncle emigrated or similar.
As you can imagine this massively increases the research time involved and it isn’t unusual for a single Family Line to run to over 100 pages. Over a full four line family that is the same as a 400 page book!
The Full Story of Your Family History
The Full Family Story Package costs just £500 per Family Line
PACKAGES
INCLUDED in ALL PACKAGES (Except the Introductory to Your Family History)
- The full write up of the Story of Your Family History – not just a Family Tree and a few certificates (although you get those as well)
- Any of your supplied photographs or other documents can be incorporated into the text
- The supply and incorporation of up to three Birth or Marriage certificates as required to progress the research– any others required will be agreed in advance and charged at cost price
- NO LIMIT on how far back the research will go – the only limit is what can be found
- NO LIMIT on size of the document
- Electronic document (PDF) supplied as standard at all stages
- Options on how the finished article is presented to you – see The Finished Article below

RESEARCH and WRITEUPS
Not everybody wants or needs a Package, if you are such a person I offer two alternatives:
Individual Research – whether it is just some additional research or trying to find that elusive ancestor I’m happy to get involved – just email with some outline of what is required and we can take it from there Contact
Telling Their Story – I have also been approached to bring my own presentation style to existing family trees. Again please contact me and we’ll go from there Contact
As with all my pricing NO cost is incurred by you, the Client, until agreed in writing.
The Finished Article – OPTIONS
Packages are normally supplied as an electronic PDF, if you want to make it Special here are some options to consider
- A paper copy supplied in a suitable binder or binders – the price will be dictated by the document size
- Book Binding – a fully “book bound” edition to preserve your family history in the traditional manner – hard back or soft back with various qualities of binder and finish available. Once again document size will have a say in the price
